Raspberry Pi Just Announced - Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector at $25 Available on The PiHut

Raspberry Pi continues to expand its ecosystem with innovative and practical accessories, and their latest addition—the RaspberryPi PoE+ Injector—simplifies power delivery for networked Raspberry Pi projects. Whether you're running a Raspberry Pi in an industrial setting or a home automation project in a remote location, this new injector allows you to provide power and data over a single Ethernet cable.

Raspberry Pi Just Announced - Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector at $25 Available on The PiHut

The Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector is a compact midspan injector designed to add Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support to your network. If you don't have a PoE-enabled switch, this device acts as an intermediary, injecting power into the Ethernet cable while maintaining seamless data transmission.

With a price tag of just $25, it’s an affordable and effective solution for powering Raspberry Pi single-board computers (SBCs) and other PoE-enabled devices.

Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector Specifications:

Power & Connectivity

  • Standards Support – IEEE 802.3af (PoE, 13W) and IEEE 802.3at (PoE+, 25W)
  • Input Voltage – 100V - 240V AC
  • Output Voltage – 48V DC

PoE Functionality

  • Type – Midspan Injector
  • Network Speed – 10/100/1000 Mbps (Gigabit Ethernet)
  • Connector Type – RJ45 Ethernet (Input & Output)

Compatibility

  • Works with – Raspberry Pi SBCs (when used with a PoE/PoE+ HAT)
  • Supports Other Devices – Compatible with other IEEE 802.3af/at PoE-powered devices

Physical Dimensions & Build

  • Compact Form Factor – Easy to integrate into any setup
  • Mounting – Desktop or wall-mountable

Additional Notes

  • Developed in collaboration with – Microchip
  • Required Accessory – IEC mains lead (sold separately)

For many Raspberry Pi enthusiasts, projects often take them beyond the reach of convenient power outlets. Whether it’s a remote garden webcam, IoT sensor, or an industrial controller, running a separate power cable can be inconvenient or impossible. PoE technology solves this by delivering both power and data over a single Ethernet cable, making it an ideal solution for:

  • Remote and outdoor installations
  • Security cameras
  • Industrial automation
  • IoT applications

Since the Raspberry Pi 3B+, all Raspberry Pi SBCs have supported PoE when paired with an optional PoE or PoE+ HAT. However, without a PoE switch, powering these devices required additional adapters—until now.

Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector

The Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector was developed in collaboration with Microchip and includes the following features:

  • Standards Support: IEEE 802.3af (PoE, 13W) and IEEE 802.3at (PoE+, 25W)
  • Input Voltage: 100V - 240V AC
  • Compatible with Raspberry Pi SBCs (when used with a PoE/PoE+ HAT)
  • Compact and easy to install
  • Ideal for networked Raspberry Pi projects and other PoE-powered devices

While the Raspberry Pi 5 includes a 4-pin PoE power connector, the first-party PoE+ HAT+ is still under development. Raspberry Pi hints that this will be their most efficient Powered Device (PD) accessory yet, and it has been in the works for quite some time. Until it officially launches, users can still take advantage of PoE with existing Raspberry Pi models using the new injector.

For Raspberry Pi users who want a cost-effective and hassle-free PoE solution, the Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector is a must-have and currently available on The PiHut. It ensures that even if you don't have a PoE switch, you can still power your Raspberry Pi and other PoE devices with ease.
